My world renowned reputable Contract Catering client has created a role of Operations Director taking over responsibility for some key corporate clients in London and south East and use these as a platform to grow the company’s reputation in the food market as a key competitor. Right now this is a highly successful IFM company turnover over 1 billion worldwide and recognise that it is seen as a fabulous FM expert with London corporate clients – but not perceived as a real foodie expert – this is what they need you for! We want you to become the food ambassador and create, drive and implement the food strategy for London and use the London key clients as your platform to achieve this.( with the full support of your MD) this would suit an entrepreneurial mind set who wants to retain the security of having the financial clout behind them that comes from working for one of the big corporates – BUT this company really does have a family feel and seriously looks after their people – they rarely look to the market to recruit at this level as they are hugely proud of their enviable track record for nurturing talent within and thus promoting within. However they recognise that they do not have a catering expert with the wherewithal and time to dedicate purely to this role. Of the £300 Million catering corporate clients business you would have P&L accountability for around £15 million to use this is your platform to grow the perception in the market to be seen as a Catering expert and be able to compete with the fellow niche contract London foodie caterers…by growing your network with the Food Consultants in London who would invite you to tender in time for key foodie contracts in London.
So this is new role, a hybrid role if you like, a mix of Operations, sales and retention, whereby you would have P&L accountability for between £10 and £20 million of Corporate services business in London but at the same time plan and deliver growth for Food in London and beyond. Over time then look to become the subject matter expert, Food ambassador for Corporate services and grow your business by networking with the relevant consultants, with a consultative approach, coupled with your entrepreneurial flair to build strong long lasting relationships with new Corporate clients – most of which now seem to be more Tech and Media clients who are looking for new world solutions, for instance, they may not have even any kitchen facilities on site, so not old school type of selling! My client is looking for someone who understands and wants to be responsible for their own destiny not have it formatted and controlled by her…and most importantly which you cannot prep for – she wants to click with this person.
