This is a fabulous opportunity for someone with the right can do attitude who is happy and willing to be hands on as a number 2 for this quite frankly amazing boutique hotel with state of the art spa near Newbury. Think laid back luxury with a touch of proper old school class, a bit like the Pig before they were bought out. We need someone who is a real people person, who is simply brilliant at bringing teams together. Someone who is warm, friendly and has a gentle kind approach to managing a large team of up to 100, we don’t want someone to come in and upset some the more longstanding members of the team like a bull in a china shop…more gentle and kind in manner would ensure the team responds well to you.
The GM/OD would have overall P&L responsibility, which would free you up to focus on standards and service with an enviable eye for detail. This property turnovers roughly £8 million a year so not for the faint hearted and a great opportunity to step up to be GM in time. This is a new role created due to the current GM being promoted to oversee two boutique hotel properties so needs a right hand man or woman who he can totally rely on as his eyes and ears when he is at the other property…you and he need to work hand in glove together. The success of this role will be down to the strength of relationship between you and the current GM now OD, it is a tricky level as it would not suit someone who is all about wanting to the the GM and have full accountability for the P&L etc you need to be hands on with brilliant presence and not be precious about this. Whilst at the same time you need to possess the gravitas and F&B experience to be able to run the property when your GM/OD is staying away at the other property…so a fine balance.
Experience wise would be ideal if you had strong restaurant experience as there are multiple outlets at the property, however would be fine for someone from hotels, events venues or a decent gastro pub with rooms – its all about the fit! This property has none of the stuffiness that some luxury retreats can have, far more down to earth.
