Job Description
My client is the leading bespoke hand crafted furniture, predominantly sofa, company in Europe and has recently acquired a UK furniture company for £100 million and is looking for a Commercial Director based in the UK. The turnover of the current UK acquisition is £300 million with 100 shops UK wide.

We are looking for a Italian speaking professional with an outstanding academic curriculum who must have at least 10 years of previous experience in the role, in medium to large companies operating in the Retail sector, not B2B or wholesale but Retail so that you understands what is means to deal with front line customers and how they interact with your business!

Additionally required, are excellent commercial strategic vision, strong team leadership skills, ability to manage and motivate assigned resources, good strategic and economic/financial analysis capabilities for decision-making and problem-solving, along with availability for international travel and excellent computer skills.

As Commercial Director the key things to keep in mind are as follows:

You MUST be fluent in Italian

You need to be from the Retail sector (Not B2B or Wholesale like I say)

My client’s first choice would be that you have experience in the furniture sector and after this electronics, houseware, sport, beds and mattresses, other big ticket retailers.

A big part of this role is helping shape the range for the stores, whilst helping to define the pricing for the collection, whilst monitoring and optimizing the margins and the important part of monitoring and controlling the store costs which in turn will improve store profitability

In addition we need someone who is able willing and wanting to liaise with the marketing team to define the promotions and the promotional calendar.

My client is a family owned company who has taken over a PLC so you would be joining a brilliant team of people who are passionate about what they do – fast paced, yes demanding of results but in turn are hugely supportive and kind once you have gained the family’s trust- they need someone in the UK who can run things as though it were your own company not part of some big corporate!

As well as travel to Italy on occasion the UK Head office is Sunderland so you would need to be open to travelling here for key meetings but you can be based anywhere in the UK so long as you are happy to travel across the UK.

Salary £150,000 plus bonus and full package
